PRELIMINARY INITIATION

TO THE URBAN PROJECT

The mission commissioned by MAJAL, at L'Atelier Beyrouth 2007/2008, and relating to the ARCHIMEDES project, is part of the educational framework of introducing students to the Urban Project, as one of the parameters of the mechanisms of analysis and recognition of said project.

It consists of:

- in the development of a framework locating the cultural places and the Landmarks of the different zones of the pericentral belt of Beirut (schools, places of education, cultural centers, etc.) while highlighting their interfaces with their immediate neighborhood:

- the establishment of identity cards for the buildings and places thus listed, showing their nature and their impact on their environment.

It should be noted that MAJAL, which is an observatory for reconstruction - which was created by T'ALBA and which depends on the urban planning institute (postgraduate), has among other objectives, to help the public sector to carry out urban studies, master plans, economic studies... but also to constitute a database and information which will be used to carry out urban research and analyses...

In this capacity, he is carrying out a mission in the pericentral sectors of Beirut on behalf of the municipality of Beirut, within the framework of the ARCHIMEDES project (project for the revitalization of historic centers in the Mediterranean and for the promotion of sustainable development models...).
